On
Wednesday, February 25, 2009, The PEI Federation of Labour completed
its 4th annual donation of books to the PEI Provincial Libraries and to
the UPEI Library. This year’s donation was valued at approximately
$1,300.00 and included 51 books on a wide variety of labour, social,
and global justice issues. Once again this year, The Federation even
donated some books to the Public Library that are geared towards
children and teenagers. Please click on the links below for a
complete list and links to descriptions of each book and for more
photos from the donations.
President, Carl Pursey
represented the Federation at the UPEI component of the donation which
was held at UPEI’s Robertson Library. While Vice President, Blair
Penny represented the Federation at the Public Library component of the
donation which was held at the Confederation Center Library.
The
Federation feels that our annual book donation offers us an unique
opportunity to get books on subjects of concern to the Island Labour
Movement out to the general public through our Public Library System
and we plan to continue to take advantage of this opportunity into the
foreseeable future. The Federation would like to thank CUPW
(Charlottetown), CEP Local 401, CUPE Local 1870, and CUPE Local
1775 for their
generous donations to this year’s book donation.
